In 2016, I took part in a project by a local writer looking for lots of people to share their memories about growing up in Northampton through the years.
I was interviewed for a couple of hours with lots of questions prompting me on what I could remember as a child of events happening in the local area and my experiences growing up in the town.
The end product features quite a few of my memories along with photos of myself or ones that I’ve taken. My mum was also interviewed for the book and one of her photos appears on the front cover.
It was an exciting project to be part of and feel proud of my contributions.
The book is available to buy online from all major publishers.
In 2020, I encouraged my mum to write down her memories of growing up in Northampton. She had a remarkable memory and could recall the smallest details from her early years, so I felt it was important to preserve them.
She agreed and spent and long time working on it, sharing chapters with friends and family as she went. Her aim was always to one day have it published as a book but sadly, she passed away before that could happen.
During 2024/2025 I worked with my dad to complete the book following mum’s original plans as closely as possible. It took a long time due to incompetence from the printers we were working with and many frustrating rounds of proofs.
In the end, I took on the editing, formatting and cover design work myself, and I’m extremely proud of the result.
Only a small amount of copies were printed, so if you’re interested in a copy, get in touch.
